How to find us?
Alya retreat Center is located 1 kilometer South of San Juanillo and then 1.8 kilometers to the east, on the Northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Depending at which airport you have arrived in Costa Rica, there are different options to travel. FLYING IN & OUT OF COSTA RICA
There are two international airports in Costa Rica:
- Liberia International Airport (LIR) is a 2 hour drive to Alya Retreat Center
- San Jose International Airport (SJO) is a 4 1/2 hour drive to Alya Retreat Center
- Nosara is a 30 minute drive to Alya Retreat Center.
Liberia Airport
Liberia International Airport (LIR) is the most convenient option for those departing from USA and Canada. From Liberia airport you can take a private taxi, book a shuttle, or use public transportation in advance for reservations. Liberia International Airport (LIR) is a 2 hour drive to Alya Retreat Center
San Jose Airport
San Jose International Airport (SJO) is a 4 1/2 hour drive to Alya Retreat Center. You can take private taxi, book a shuttle, or use public transportation. An alternative is taking a short plane flight from San Jose to a domestic airport in Nosara.
Nosara AIrport
Nosara is a 30 minute drive to Alya Retreat Center. There are two airlines with daily flights to and from Nosara. For schedules, fares, and bookings visit:
Both airlines have luggage restrictions, and if you don’t want to pay for extra weight at the airport, read carefully the information on their websites. Please note that if you plan to fly Sansa Airlines, the airline has been known to change or cancel their scheduled flights if the weather conditions are considered precarious for their propeller planes (too windy, i.e.). Nature Air is much more reliable regarding their flight schedule. However, you will need to take a 20 minutes taxi ride ($20) to change from the San Jose International Airport to the Domestic Pavas Airport. With both airlines, we recommend for your homebound traveling to plan for ample connection time (4 hours), so that you don’t miss your departing international flight.
*Please note: There is a departure tax of $29 at San Jose or Liberia airport when you leave Costa Rica. It needs to be paid in cash (US$ or Costa Rican Colones) or with credit card at the Airports on your departure day. You can also pay as you arrive to save yourself time on your departure day.
CAR RENTAL INFORMATION
You may reserve your own rental car to drive from Liberia or San Jose to Alya Retreat Center.
We recommend online bookings with www.toyota.com/rental or www.economyrentacar.com/, as these rental car companies have local offices in Nosara.
Direction From Liberia to Alya Retret Center
From Liberia head south towards Santa Cruz. Use Google Maps to get directions to San Juanillo, Guanacaste. When get to San Juanillo main junction (it takes about two hours), continue South for 1 kilometer towards Ostional. You will see an orange bus stop with sun painted on it to the left. Make a left turn after the sign. Follow this main road for 1.8 kilometers. When you see two gates on the left continue down the road to the next driveway on the right.

From San Jose head west towards Santa Cruz. Use Google Maps to get directions to San Juanillo via Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.
